Katy Perry gig

Went to an intimate Katy Perry gig at the Regent on Thursday with Tara…  it was awesome.  She was way better live than I thought she would be.  Backed by a live band, she sang all her hits, even playing guitar on a couple of them.  The crowd was decent, and being an 18+ gig, there weren’t many squealing fangirls which was good.  The band were great, apart from maybe the lead guitarist, who tried to steal the spotlight as if we were there to see him.  The bass player had a slight Russell Brand look to him, much to our amusement… although, I’m easily amused.

I’ve uploaded pics that Tara took to my Flickr account, check them out here.

The big test…

After making a batch of my BBQ Sauce on Friday night, I needed to trial it. First I needed some guinea pigs… I mean, friends, to experiment on… I mean, share my sauce with. As luck would have it, @lilylauren & @andrewsayer had invited a group of us over for a BBQ on Saturday (how convenient).  So, Friday night, I cooked up a batch of sauce, covered a couple of steaks with it, and put them in the fridge to marinate for approximately 20hrs.

The day had been planned as a Bakedate for the girls, and BBQdate for the boys.  As soon as we arrived, I was quickly ushered to the BBQ by Andrew.  I guess they were hungry, or eager to test out my sauce.  Either way we fired up the ManStove straight away.  I unveiled my well marinated steaks, and was met with watering mouths, a great sign for me.  As well as the steaks, we had a variety of sausages, and a bag of chicken wings.  The wings were promptly doused with copious amounts of sauce, and thrown on the BBQ with the steaks.

As the girls prepared baked goods and gossiped about the latest fashion trends, nail polish colours, and what ever else it is they talk about, the men had some serious discussions over the grill.  With drinks in hand, we discussed important topics, such as sauce ingredients, meat selection and preparation, and general plans for world domination.

It wasn’t long until the meat was ready.  This was the moment I had been anxiously waiting for…  some feedback on “Tw1sty’s Smokey Bourboun BBQ Sauce.”  With mouths full of meat, it was hard to get a straight answer, but by the speed at which the food was consumed, I’m going to assume the sauce is a success.  Now the only thing to do is make another batch, and organise another BBQ.

TimeLapse

This is a Time Lapse video I created a few months ago. I used iTimeLapse on my iPhone. I mounted my phone to the dashboard of my ute, then hit record, before driving home from work. This is the end product, and I am happy with the results.
